Countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative

There are 193 United Nations (UN) member states. The State of Palestine and the Vatican (the Holy See) have observer state status in the UN. Some states maintain informal relations, but are not officially recognized.1

At the last count, the One Belt One Road initiative (led by China) has reached a total of 68 countries. "Belt and Road” will create an “economic cooperation area” that stretches encompassed much of the Eastern Hemisphere. Taken in aggregate, Belt and Road countries jointly account for 62.3% of the world’s population and 30.0% GDP.2 Global purchasing power parity (PPP) of all nations was US$107.5 trillion (688.99 trillion CNY) in 2014, and around US$78.28 trillion (501.4 trillion CNY) in nominal term.3 Therefore, Belt and Road nations represent US$23.48 trillion (150.41 trillion CNY).
